Romance in Accra begins by learning about the rich cultural heritage of Accra. Additionally, many different ethnic groups reside in the city, and they all add to the distinctive fabric of local traditions and customs. The Ga people are indigenous to the Accra region, and the Ghana Statistical Service estimates that about 80 different ethnic groups live in Ghana.

Accra’s vibrant arts scene is also a testament to its cultural richness. The city is home to numerous galleries, a national theatre, and performance spaces showcasing the talents of local artists and musicians. From traditional drumming and dance performances to contemporary art exhibitions, Accra’s creative spirit knows no bounds. EXCERPT: CHAPTER 4 of Confessions of a Car Hire Driver
“In our part of the world, it’s a community type of living; everyone seems to know everyone living in the vicinity, and those who are not known in the area are easily spotted as outsiders. I slowly parked my car and was getting ready to get out of the car to ask someone if they happened to know Abena and if she was in the house or not. Quite a bold move by me; after all, I am the Big Don, right? I was trying to assert myself and feeling quite confident, but not overconfident.
Before I could open my door, I just saw a young lady by my passenger-side window, smiling at me as if she already knew me. I rolled the window down, and she just said “hello.” I said hello back, and she said, “Please, am I looking for sister Abena?” I was taken aback a bit, took a few seconds, and said, Yes, is she there? She said yes, but she asked her to come and tell me to wait outside for her. I said okay; I would be waiting for her in the car.
CHAPTER 4: Continuation of Romance in Accra-Ghana
So many things were going on in my mind at this very moment. Just mixed feelings, but all the same, looking forward to seeing Abena again. I am already in a happy mood. What is really going on here in front of Abena’s house? I asked myself. Now, my low-profile method of sneaking in is no longer possible; the folks around here, especially Abena’s immediate family members, seem to know or have heard about me. My cover is blown; I need to be formally introduced to the family, or it will seem disrespectful to them.
The reason being, for families around here, you just cannot be coming in and taking their daughter out and bringing her back anytime you want, which is not proper or culturally acceptable, unless she predominately lives on her own, like in her own flat or apartment. I just need to do the needful as soon as possible. Basically, I should be introduced by Abena to her family if we intend to have any serious relationship. I do not have a choice unless my intentions are not sincere.
As I was pondering in my mind the various scenarios, Abena appeared from the house. She walked from the house gate straight towards my car. I can see folks staring at her, and some seem to be saying something to her. She made some hand gestures and kept walking like a model on a catwalk.”
